The Smallest Dog Sweater Pattern Ever?

If you sometimes see your dog out of the corner of your eye and mistake it for a cockroach or hamster, you may want to have a look at this pattern. It's described as a 'Cabled Jacket' and looks as though it is suitable for beginners. If you've seen similar sweaters tailored to super-small dogs, please point us in the right direction. Eventually, we'd like to have a huge index of patterns divided by size and even breed! If anyone gives it a shot, please send us a photo of your favorite pooch decked out in this design. And maybe someday we'll even have permission to post it right here on DGK.

  1. I need this in a crochet pattern. I cant afford to pay for the transfer kit. Is there any one who knows how to transfer this pattern?
This is for my spoiled, 4 pound toy poodle Pebbles.

  3. Thank you for the pattern for smalll knitted sweater. Have been searching on the net and came across this site. We lost our precious Yorkie Nov.5th and we miss her so much after being Blessed with her for 10 wonderful years. I am looking for a small yorkie now and so thought I would knit up couple sweaters. I can’t use any of our Cassies things for it. Thank you again. Glad I was able to find this. Patti

    Patti,
I also lost my Yorkie 5 weeks ago. I have bought a puppy, but will not get her until Dec 18th. I am also looking for tiny doggie patterns. I will try this pattern. My new Yorkie will only be 2.5 lbs when I get her and she really needs some sweaters. I have knitted a tube sock like thing on 4 needles, with a collar and holes for her front feet, it extends over the back and is held down to the back with loops over the back legs….I hope it works!! I fitted it on my granddaughters stuffed dog and it seems to be OK. If any one is interested I could make a pattern and provide a picture

  7. I have tried several patterns for my Chihuahua but haven’t been able to make any of them fit Smokey. He weighs 10 lbs. and is all black with a white vest and quite a handsome fellow if I do say so myself. He actually looks like he has a tuxedo on. I have printed the Dog Cabled Jacket pattern so will give it a try.

  8. I was just reading some of the above comment. About three weeks ago I lost my beautiful miniature baby Pom of 5 months and 2.2 lbs. He had very thin hair but an unbelievable personality. I have since found another but twice the size. He is dearly missed.
Anyway I wanted to let all you people out ther with the tiniest puppies know about these 2 gorgeous sweaters I bought from ebay and received a week after my puppie’s death. The girl makes them to fit her 3 pound yorkie. If you get in touch with her she may be able to help. The sweaters are about $4.99US but worth more. One I have is a cream all cable knit and the other is a hot dk pink with multi stripes. She had many different ones.

  13. I have 2 very tiny yorkies, after I got my first yorkie in 1194, I looked for tiny stuff for him as he got cold so easily. Well as many of you know finding things for 1-3 pounders is almost impossible, well 3 years ago I got a girl that was even smaller, so I statred designing things myself. I have a lot of sweaters and other stuff too… these are both functional and cute. I’d love to hear from anyone with comments or questions. I have been doing this for sometime now. You can check out my stuff at http://www.puppykidz.com or http://www.pursepupdesigns.com.

  15. Anyone can make a provisional sweater by cutting the end sleeve off a small size sweater. Roll the cuff into a turtleneck, cut openings for front legs and trim backand underside to fit pet. Bind the raw edges by sewing, knitting or crocheting. Just a recycling idea until you find that perfect sweater.

  17. Well, this is small but I have patterns that are even smaller. I have a 2 pound Yorkie and a 3 pound Yorkie so I have designed a lot of stuff for them. I am working on putting them into a book. What do you all think? The patterns will be easy to addjust from about 1 pound to 7-10 pounds. Mostly crochet since that is my favorite and they work up so fast but are so cute.
Would love to hear from you!
