Snuggle Berry Dog Sweater – Free DROPS Pattern

Dog in a colorful knit sweater

DROPS Design built the Snuggle Berry to work from the tail up to the neck. It’s a different approach from most dog sweater patterns, which start at the neck. Whether it actually fits better is debatable – but it does work.

Four sizes, from Chihuahua to small Boxer. Uses DROPS Snow yarn, which is a bulky yarn with a soft texture.

How it’s built

The back and belly are worked back and forth separately, then joined to work the neck in the round. After that, the back and belly are sewn together and the front legs are worked. It’s an intermediate project – the construction is a bit more involved than a simple top-down sweater.

The pattern uses stocking stitch and rib. No cables or colorwork.
