Small dogs get cold fast. This Wunderlabel pattern fixes that with a top-down knit that works up quickly in chunky yarn. The pompoms are optional, but they’re the part everyone notices.
It’s a beginner project, and it’s festive. Good for holiday knitting or just for a dog who needs a sweater and you want something fun to make.
How it’s built
Knitted in the round from the top down. That construction makes it easy to adjust the length as you go – just try it on your dog and keep knitting until it fits. The pompoms are added at the end.
The sample size has a back length of 29 cm, belly section of 22 cm, and chest circumference of 36 cm. That’s a small dog – think Dachshund or small Terrier range.
