We get a lot of repeat emails from our friends revolving around the same topics again and again. An F.A.Q. (Frequently Asked Questions) page is a great way to save everybody’s valuable time. If you don’t find the answer to your question here, never hesitate to contact us.
Q: How did you get the idea for DogGoneKnit.com?
A: My mother and sister are both knitters and they began designing sweaters for some of the neighborhood critters. They originally wanted to sell them online, but could not keep up with the demand. So, rather than sell pre-made sweaters, we decided it would be fun to start a collection of free patterns and then build a community around them.
Q: Where do you get all of the patterns featured on DGK?
A: Ideally all of our patterns are either original or user-submitted. Occasionally, we’ll see a pattern somewhere online that we like so much we’ll ask if we can re-publish it here. If you have any such suggestions, we’d love to hear them!
Q: Is it legal for me to utilize or even share the patterns that I find on your site?
A: To the best of our knowledge, all knitting and crochet patterns featured on DGK are in the public domain. If you feel otherwise, simply send us an email and we will take the pattern in question down while we investigate the copyright details.
Q: I have an original pattern that I think is pretty good. Would you like me to submit it?
A: Absolutely! We want to fill DGK with original, grass roots patterns that you can’t find anywhere else – to eventually become the largest collection of free knitting and crochet patterns on the internet! Help us in our quest for world domination. Just kidding. OK, we’re not totally kidding.
Q: Should I email you directly if I have any questions regarding a pattern that I see on DGK?
A: No – That is why we created the interactive Dog Park forum. Eventually, when our users start to visit and contribute to the discussions, you should be able to find answers to your questions there fairly quickly.
Q: If I need a specific pattern that I don’t see on DGK, should I email you to see if you might have it?
A: No – Any new patterns that we have will be published on the site almost instantly. If you need something for a specific breed or occasion, post your query in the Requests section of the Dog Park and see what happens!
