Wylie was a well-loved pooch whose owner built a tribute page for him which features a great and simple knitting pattern for everyone to enjoy. If you’ve been looking for a good Chihuahua sweater pattern, keep reading: “This sweater was inspired by, and designed for him. At one point he had 12 of them in all kinds of stitches, colors, styles and fibers. He wore them with pride and a cocky attitude.” The memory of Wylie also lives on in this terrific gallery of sweaters which people have knit based on this pattern and then submitted.
The pattern is easily scaleable for different sized dogs with simple accompanying instructions. It’s been online since 1995 - 11 years now! - and is great for beginners. Enjoy, and here’s to Wylie!

I have made this sweater from this pattern. The pattern was easy ( I am a beginner) and the sweaters came out beautiflully! I am on my 5th one. I have searched and searched for the easiest, yet nicest pattern for a long time; this is the best. My chihuahua also wears his with pride!

Don’t bother wasting your time trying to find patterns on this site, you’ll spend too much time clicking on links that only go in circles. This is one of the most poorly run websites that I’ve ever come across in nearly 15 years of using the internet. BLech!

Hmmm I hate to dispute you all but the patterns are there in the storyline above. You either click on the word PATTERN (my caos not theirs) or the name of the sweater in the article. I have yet to get lost on this website. Now if only I could knit. LOL

Extremely frustrating to find something you want and not be able to view it after repeated tries. Judging from the comments above I’m not the only one who finds this site to be useless.

For the 18th time people, click the “Patterns” link in the navigation menu on the right hand side for Greta’s pattern, and the phrase “Chihuahua sweater pattern” in the article text for that one! What is the big problem?

I am bringing home a new baby minischnauzer in two weeks and was desperate to make him a sweater (as it’s February) to keep him warm during the potty training. Thank you so much for this pattern and all the wonderful pictures of other pets and their mom’s/grandmom’s interpretations. I have just started knitting it in an Australian merino; baby blue, no less!

I recently rescued a 2 year old female
Chihuahua that had been in a bad environment. She had a dislocated hip
that required surgery. She is now
healthy and walking on all 4 legs.
I have been searching for a sweater
pattern to knit as cold weather
is approching and I know she needs
something to keep her warm. I had
no trouble getting the pattern and it
looks like something I can complete
in very little time, so thank you for
sharing this with all of us and also
thank you for sharing Wylies story.
